Benjamin Wright, Union Soldier

Benjamin Wright fought for the United States in the Civil War from 1862 to 1865 as a private in the 35th Missouri Infantry. His unit helped liberate Arkansas by fighting in the Battle of Helena, and being stationed in Little Rock as the war ended.

Newton is about 7 miles west of Boston, and was about a 2-hour march south of Lexington when the first shots were fired on April 19, 1775. The entire area was a hotbed of anti-British sentiment, and when the first call went out for volunteers to help break the Redcoats’ siege on Boston, Joshua enlisted.
